Inside a partner pharmacy

The opportunity

Why every pharmacy needs a private GP service.

Community pharmacy is changing. NHS funding per item is falling year on year, while patients increasingly want same-day access to a GP they cannot get from their NHS surgery.

A private GP service inside your pharmacy gives you a new revenue stream that does not depend on prescriptions. Patients book, see a doctor in your consultation room, and any prescription is dispensed by you on the spot.

You earn from the consultation, you earn from the dispense, and you build longer-term relationships with patients who will come back for repeat care.

How it works

A typical patient visit.

  1. Step 01

    Patient books

A patient finds you through our website or WhatsApp, picks your pharmacy as their location, and pays online.

  2. Step 02

    Doctor sees them

A GP joins by video from your consultation room, or attends in-person if booked that way. The patient gets a proper diagnosis.

  3. Step 03

    You dispense

Any private prescription is sent straight to your dispensary. The patient walks out with their medication.

Requirements

What you'll need.

If you can tick all four, you can join. Most UK community pharmacies already meet these.

  • A private room

A consultation room with a closed door and a reasonable internet connection.

  • GPhC registration

A current GPhC registration in good standing.

  • A device

A tablet, laptop, or desktop computer to access the video and EPR systems.

  • An hour to onboard

A single training call covers the booking system, EPR, and our prescription workflow.

Pharmacy FAQs

Common questions from pharmacy owners.

Do I need to be CQC registered myself?

+
No. Clinical activity sits within our CQC-registered framework. As a pharmacy, you continue to operate under your existing GPhC registration. You're hosting space and dispensing prescriptions, both of which are already permitted.

How much will I earn per consultation?

+
The exact share depends on the service tier (Partner or Partner+) and consultation type. We share full numbers transparently on our 20-minute intro call, before you commit to anything.

Who handles the clinical liability?

+
All doctors on the platform carry their own professional indemnity covering private GP work. ThanksDoc holds umbrella indemnity for the platform. You only handle the dispense, which is your existing professional responsibility.

Can my pharmacist do the consultations instead of a GP?

+
No. Consultations on the platform are conducted by GMC-registered GPs only. Your pharmacists continue to provide their existing pharmacy services in parallel.

What happens if a patient cancels?

+
Cancellations and refunds are handled by us through our patient-facing booking platform. You're not involved in payment processing.
